The aim of the course is to acquaint students with modern methods in the field of quantification of the rehabilitation process. Emphasis is placed on explaining the principles of various diagnostic approaches in the objective assessment of motor and cognitive impairment and on the application of specific procedures and instrumentation in clinical practice, including monitoring of patients in the home environment.


As a standard, full-time teaching takes place and the course ends with an oral exam, which is preceded by written preparation. If the number of students is less than 5, teaching can take place at a distance in the form of guided self-study with regular consultations. Furthermore, the student prepares a written study on a given topic in the field. The condition for admission to the exam is the completion of two laboratory exercises (evidenced by a protocol signed by the student, the head of the exercise and the guarantor of the course). The protocols will be archived in the doctoral study material.

Syllabus of lectures:

1. Research and modern trends in the medical applications of technical solutions in rehabilitation.

2. Use of visual biofeedback in the diagnosis and therapy of patients with imbalance.

3. Applications of robotic systems, for example exoskeletons and rehabilitation robots.

4. Diagnostic tools for quantification of motor and cognitive impairment.

5. Quantification of the rehabilitation process in the application of vacuum compression therapy.

6. Kinematic analysis of movement in patients with motor deficiency.

7. Diagnostics using stabilometry and plantography.

8. Methodologies for evaluating the psychosensomotoric potential of a person.

9. Technical solutions in the diagnosis of movement disorders of the upper limbs.

10. Monitoring and diagnostics of patients during therapy in the home environment.
