Synopsis:

The course offers a brief overview of resuscitation and intensive care in anesthesia-resuscitation units, specialized and mobile intensive care units. The aim of the course is present current trends in biomedical engineering in this area to students. Studying course assumes basic knowledge especially from internal and chirurgic specializations. After the completion of the course, the students should be able to actively communicate with a clinical physician and assist with optimal methods of solution in specific cases.

Requirements:

The knowledge of the students are verified by at least two written tests within the semester.

Syllabus of lectures:

List of lectures:

•Intensive and resuscitation care – basic terminology, care about patient in intensive and resuscitation care, concept of intensive care units and department of anesthesia and resuscitation

•Basic vital signs, their monitoring and possibilities of their support and replacement – respiratory system

•Basic vital signs, their monitoring and possibilities of their support and replacement - cardiovascular system

•Basic vital signs, their monitoring and possibilities of their support and replacement - central nervous system

•Mobile units of intensive care

•Mobile units of intensive care in exceptional conditions in collective incidence of the patients

•Elimination methods

•The role of technician at intensive care units

•The work of engineer and technician at intensive care unit and department of anesthesia and resuscitation

•Hygienic and epidemiologic aspects of work intensive care unit and department of anesthesia and resuscitation – barrier system of treatment, nosocomial infection, disinfection and sterilization.
