Synopsis:

Basic safety regulations, training and examinations from the sections of the regulation No. 50/1978 Coll. and instructions concerning the laboratory experiments based on the electrical devices. Factors determining electrical shock injury. Symbols and labeling in electrotechnology - safety colors importance, safety geometrical shape importance, examples of the safety legends, examples of the safety tables, graphical signs on the electrical devices, letter conductor labeling, AC nominal voltages, maximum values of the available current, short circuit and overloading protection, safety of the electrical devices - safety classes, periodical inspection and check of the electrical devices and hand tools, important norms, first aid in cases of electrical shock. Relationship of the law and safety regulations. Risk analysis in the field of electrotechnology. Special qualification in electrotechnology - regulation No. 50/1978 Coll. Validity based on the electrotechnology qualification and directive „B“. Lasers safety regulations.

Requirements:

Assessment (credit) requirements:

1. Successful passing a test from the general safety regulations (10 questions, multiple choice - abc, only one choice is right, pass - 9 points from 10 possible).

2. Successful passing a test from the section 4 of the regulation No. 50/1978 Coll. (10 questions, multiple choice - abc, only one choice is right, pass - 9 points from 10 possible).

3. Successful passing a test from the section 5 of the regulation No. 50/1978 Coll. (10 questions, multiple choice - abc, only one choice is right, pass - 9 points from 10 possible).

4. Successful passing a test from the topics of the laser safety regulations based on the EN 60825 (14 questions, multiple choice - abc, only one choice is right, pass - 13 points from 14 possible).

Tests are available (for selfstudy and examination as well) in educational enviroment EduBase2 via WWW interface only.

Syllabus of lectures:

1. General safety. Safety regulations at faculty and CTU. Biomedical technician and health care facility specifics. Educational videoprogram.

2. Factors determining electrical shock injury. Symbols and labeling in electrotechnology - safety colors importance, safety geometrical shape importance, examples of the safety legends, examples of the safety tables, graphical signs on the electrical devices, letter conductor labeling,

3. Electrocity distribution, AC nominal voltages and health care facility specifics.

4. Maximum values of the available current, short circuit and overloading protection. Educational videoprogram.

5. Safety of the electrical devices - safety classes, periodical inspection and check of the electrical devices and hand tools, important relevant norms. Educational videoprogram.

6. Relationship of the law and safety regulations. Risk analysis in the field of electrotechnology. Special qualification in electrotechnology - regulation No. 50/1978 Coll. Validity based on the electrotechnology qualification and directive „B“. Electrical shock first aid. Educational videoprogram.

7. Lasers safety and first aid.

Study Objective:

To introduce basic concepts in the field of general safety regulations and applications of the technical norms in electrotechnology with respect to the pacient safety against electrical shock. There are required test examinations from the field of the regulation No. 50/1978 Coll. and norm EN 60825.
